Michelle Gialanze / Mixa Painting

Mixa Painting is Michelle Gialanze’s contemporary mixed-media practice, investigating portraiture through material disruption and layered surface construction. Working primarily with paper, natural pigments and textural compounds, her practice explores fragility, concealment and revelation. Through tearing, rebuilding and reworking paper surfaces, Michelle transforms traditional portraiture into tactile compositions that challenge flatness and blur boundaries between fine art and design. Her work approaches identity as layered and evolving, treating paper not simply as a surface but as an active structural element.
