Marcon Borg Caruana / Atelier Nineteen

Atelier Nineteen, founded by Maltese artisan Marcon Borg Caruana in 2011, is a wearable-art practice rooted in craftsmanship and the poetics of time. Known for transforming antique watch parts into one-of-a-kind jewellery, the practice explores memory, history and transformation through reclaimed materials. Marcon’s work received a Runner-Up award for Most Innovative Product in 2020, while these themes were further explored through her solo exhibition Tempus Fugit. Alongside her jewellery practice, Marcon has expanded her work into other forms of wearable art and creative expression, while retaining the same focus on handmade craftsmanship, storytelling and giving new meaning to existing materials.
