Jane Birchall x Aida binte Khalid

Jane Birchall is an award-winning artist working in sculptural ceramics and acrylic on canvas. Inspired by Gozo, her work reflects the island’s coastline and rural landscapes while exploring environmental fragility and the impact of development.

Aida binte Khalid is a design educator, architect and ceramic artist whose practice draws on Asian artistic identity, architecture and everyday life. Combining architectural influences with sculptural forms, her work explores form, materiality and texture, drawing inspiration from travel, memory, cultural heritage and the genius loci of place.

Supported by the Malta Crafts Foundation and Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore, the collaboration explores the cultural connections between two island nations shaped by maritime trade and diverse influences, with the artists responding to a shared theme through their own perspectives and ceramic traditions, creating a dialogue between Malta and Singapore.
